Sarah, Friski & Xena.
Friski is a Wuffitmix superdog, owned by 19 year old Sarah Woodward. Sarah feeds Friski on Wuffitmix 'Silver Flake' as she believes the balance of energy and animal fats is ideal to keep Friski active without putting weight on - a common trait in Labradors.
Sarah has owned Friski - a Labrador x - since she was a puppy and began working with her at obedience classes at WAG Dog Training Club in Fence,Lancashire. The club aims to teach dogs in a kind and positive manner through the use of ‘The Kennel Club Good Citizens Dog Scheme,’ which was established to promote socially acceptable dogs and to teach owners how to train their dogs.
The competitions Sarah and Friski have taken part in involve several tests including ‘stays,’ where Friski must sit and stay for up to 2 minutes, ‘heelwork,’ where Friski must demonstrate walking to heel, ‘recall’ and also‘retrieve.’ Sarah qualified for the northern final of the ‘Kennel Club Good Citizen Pre-beginners stakes’ which was held in Edinburgh. As she won this competition she then qualified for Crufts 2011.
Sarah and Friski competed in the KC Good Citizen Pre-beginners Final at Crufts on Saturday 12th March and did tremendously well - finishing 8th out of 20dogs. Look out for Sarah and Friski in April's issue of Live Ribble Valley magazine!
Well done to Sarah and Friski for coming 1st place in the double retrieve at the Wales Game and Country Fair.
Sarah got Xena - a Large Munsterlander - in July this year and has already started with her obedience training doing sits and downs, stays and close work (heelwork) and recalls. As the breed belong to the Gun Dog family, Sarah also plans on training her for field trials and taking her shooting.
