The Pug is a small toy dog and it’s average weight is between 6 and 8kg. They are a popular little breed as they are non-agressive and get along well with children, as well as other animals. The Pug is generally a loyal, friendly, playful dog and always eager to please their owners.
As they have such a short snout, Pugs have a tendency to develop breathing problems. They are also prone to ailments such as eye, ear and mouth infections. The main problem tends to be skin infections if the creases in their face are not kept clean, a daily wipe can help with this. Pugs can also suffer from a fatal brain disease specific to their breed called Pug Dog Encephalitis (PDE). They can also put on weight very easily and can become highly obese.
