Lhasa Apso’s are bold, lively and alert little dogs which were originally used to alert monks of any intruders in Tibet. They weigh in at 4 to 7kg and measure up to 25cm at the shoulders. Although they are small in stature they are confident and sociable and make good watchdogs.
Colours include golden, rust, black, white and part coloured with various shading. Their coat is dense, heavy and straight and needs daily grooming, however if you want to show your Lhasa Apso it will need to be professionally groomed.
The breed can be succeptible condition called Progressive Retinal Atrophy which affects the eyesight, other than this they are a healthy breed and can live up to 15 years.
