The British Bulldog was originally bred to bait bulls, as the early examples of the breed were aggressive fighters who would not back down despite their own injuries. They are distinctive animals with a broad, strong and powerful appearance. They weigh between 23 and 25kg and are around 31-35cm high.
The breed needs little grooming, but the folds on the face should be cleaned to avoid irritation or infection. It’s squashed face can also cause problems with breathing and they also struggle with extremes of temperature, therefore this breed shouldn’ t be allowed to over exert themselves when it is hot.
